¿Por qué decidiste hacer la transición de monitores de piso a los monitores en el oído en general?
La decisión de comenzar a utilizar in ears y dejar de usar monitores de piso fue para protegerme los oídos y evitar la pérdida auditiva. Por lo general lo volumenes en tarima son muy altos, especialmente al momento de tocar con un baterista. El uso de in ears te ayuda a aislarte del entorno y poder escuchar con mucho más claridad las cosas que son realmente necesarias para poder tocar. Inicialmente arranqué con unos Shure 535 y luego de un par de años pasé a los UE11 PRO. En los conciertos de Maluma pasa un fenómeno y es que las fans gritan mucho y logran alcanzar volumenes entre 115 y 121 dB (Solo en gritos). En esos casos ni los monitores de piso ni los in ears normales te aislan del ruido haciendo que lo que se está tocando sea muy complicado de entender.
¿Cuándo finalmente se canso de las bocinas de piso?
Me cansé un día que llegué a casa después de un show con pitos en los oidos de los altos volumenes del show en tarima. En ese momento decidí que iba a hacer algo para prevenir la pérdida auditiva y me iba a comprar unos in ears.
¿Cómo utilizas los monitores de oido en tu configuracion cuando estas en el escenario?
Los in ears los tengo conectados al belt Pack, hay días donde complemento mi monitoreo con un SubPac M2. El sub Pac es una mochila que vibra a las frecuencias de los bajos creando una sensación como si tuviese un drum Fill al lado.
¿Qué hay en tu mezcla?
En mi mezcla tengo: Secuencias, Click, Bajo, Sampler, mi guitarra acústica, tornamesas (para scratches) y teclados que toco durante el show (esto un poco más duro que el resto), Mi voz, voz de Maluma, Voz de la Corista, Guitarrista, Overheads, Kick, toms y un poco de redoblante de la batería
¿Cómo mejoran su rendimiento en el escenario?
Los in ears me permiten entender con claridad y sin necesidad de altos volumenes lo que estoy tocando. Con las fans gritando a 115dB, sin los in ears es bien complicado entender la música en tarima.
¿Cuál es su cosa favorita sobre el producto, ajuste, aislamiento, calidad de sonido, y por qué?
Una cosa que me sorprendió al utilizar los UE11 PRO por primera vez es la calidad y claridad del sonido. No sabes lo que son unos buenos in ears hasta que usas estos. Otra cosa que me gusta mucho es el aislamiento del ruido externo y tienen muy buena presencia de bajo, lo cual es indispensable para lo que hago. Y la calidad de construcción es buenísima.
¿Cuáles son sus pensamientos sobre el ajuste universal en los oídos comparando a los monitores personalizados de oido?
Son dos mundos totalmente distintos, con los in ears universales jamás lograrás el aislamiento que obtienes con los custom IEM.
¿Algo más que le gustaría mencionar sobre los monitores personalizados de oido y de Ultimate Ears?
Estoy realmente satisfecho de haberme cambiado a los UE11PRO, se han convertido en una de mis herramientas fundamentales para tocar en vivo. Aunque también los uso para revisar mezclas........ y jugar Playstation jajajajajajajajaja

Why did you decide to transition from wedges to in-ear monitors in general?
The choice to start using in ears and stop using floor monitors was made because I wanted to protect my ears and prevent hearing loss. The volume levels on stage generally are very high, especially playing with a drummer. The use of in-ears helps you isolate from the external noise and listen with much more clarity the things that are important for you to perform. Initially, I started with Shure 535 and after a couple of years switched to UE11PRO. At the Maluma shows there's a phenomenon that the fans can reach sound levels between 115 and 121 dB screaming. In these situations, neither the floor monitors nor generic in ears help you isolate from the noise making it really hard to understand what you're doing.
When did you finally have enough of the wedge?
I got tired of using floor monitors one day that I got home with a buzz in my ears because of the loud volumes on the stage from the show, that moment I decided I was getting in ears to prevent hearing loss.
How do in-ear monitors fit into your setup? Meaning how do you use them?
My in ears are connected to my belt pack. There are some days where I compliment my monitoring with a SubPac M2. The SubPac is a backpack that vibrates with sub frequencies of the music creating a sensation like if you had a drum fill next to you.
What’s in your mix?
In my mix I have: Sequences, Click, Bass, Sampler, Turntables for scratching, my acoustic Guitar and Keyboards I play (these a little louder than the rest), My voice, Maluma's voice, Female backup singers voice, Guitarist, Overheads, kick, toms and a little bit of snare from the drums.
How did they improve your performance?
The in-ears allow me to understand with clarity and without the need of high volumes what I'm performing. With fans screaming at 115dB, without them it would be very complicated to understand the music I'm performing.
What is your favorite thing about the product, fit, isolation, sound quality, and why?
One thing that surprised me the first time I used the UE11 PRO was the quality and clarity of the sound. You don't know what good in-ears are until you get one of these. Another thing I really like is the isolation from external noise and they have a very good bass response, which is totally necessary for what I do. And they are built with quality.
What are your thoughts on universal-fit in-ears versus customs?
They are two completely different worlds, with universal in ears you will never be able to get the isolation achieved with the custom IEM.
Anything else you would like to mention about in-ear monitors and Ultimate Ears?
I'm really satisfied of having switched to the UE11 PRO, they have become one of my fundamental tools for performing live. Although I also use them to check mixes and........ play PS4 LOL!
